Gemini 3: Google's flagship and the Antigravity IDE

What happened

On 18 November 2025 Google unveiled Gemini 3 — a new flagship family of multimodal models, available from day one in Search, the Gemini app, AI Studio, Vertex AI and the Gemini CLI (CNBC). Google called it outright "the most powerful model for agentic and vibe coding" to date.

Shipping with the model was Antigravity — an agentic IDE platform where the developer works at the level of tasks rather than lines of code: agents plan, execute and verify changes themselves (InfoQ). Through the Search integration the model instantly reached 2+ billion users.

Why it matters

Google played its strongest card — distribution: no competitor can deliver a new model to billions of people in a day. And Antigravity signaled a bet that the "code editor" as a genre is giving way to the "agent orchestrator." A funny detail from launch: at first the model refused to believe it was 2025 (TechCrunch).

What it means for vibe coding

There is now a third full agentic stack (after Anthropic and OpenAI) with model, IDE and CLI from a single vendor. For multimodal work — an interface sketch turned into code, parsing screenshots and video — Gemini 3 became many teams' default choice.
