Framer: site from a prompt + style mix

An AI landing page from a prompt comes out pretty but generic — not in your style. In Framer you build the theme as a mix: your fonts plus a palette, and you hit shuffle until it feels like yours 🎨

What it is and who it's for

Framer is a design-forward AI website builder: from a prompt or a Figma mockup to a published landing page, portfolio or promo site without code. The AI agent generates the layout, sections, copy and visual style right on the canvas, and you fine-tune the typography, spacing and color. Who it's for: designers, founders and marketers who need a good-looking site fast and without a developer. It stands out for design quality by default and for the speed of "prompt → live site"; its position is backed by a $2B valuation and 500k+ MAU (Series D, Aug 2025).

Key features

  • Style / theme (the main thing here): you mix a display font, a text font and a color palette into a single site theme — you don't get stuck inside a template.
  • Cycling through variations: flip through themes section by section or hit shuffle — unique font and color combinations until one hits your taste.
  • AI agent: from a prompt to layout, sections, copy and visual style; targeted edits in plain words via "/".
  • Designer-grade animations/interactions and responsive behavior out of the box.
  • Built-in CMS for blogs/collections, forms, SEO settings.
  • Import from Figma, templates and AI components (Workshop).
  • Hosting and one-click publishing to a custom domain; A/B tests and analytics (on some plans).
  • External agents: connect Claude Code / Cursor / Codex to your project.

How to start in 5 minutes

  1. Sign up at framer.com — there's a free plan with a .framer.website subdomain.
  2. Describe the site in a prompt — you get a draft with layout, copy and styling.
  3. Open the theme panel: pick a display + text font pairing and a palette, then spin through variations / shuffle to match your brand.
  4. Set up responsive behavior and SEO, publish on the subdomain or connect your own domain.

When to take it, when not to

  • ✅ Take it if: you need a good-looking landing page/portfolio/promo fast and without code, with a ready theme built from font and palette mixes.
  • ✅ Take it if: you value designer-grade animations and the speed of "prompt → live site".
  • ❌ Don't take it → "v0"/"Lovable" is better if you need a web app with logic rather than a showcase site.
  • ❌ Don't take it → "Webflow" is better if the site is content-heavy, with a large CMS and enterprise scale.
  • ❌ Don't take it → "Canva"/"Gamma" is better if what you need isn't a site but a post, a banner or a presentation.

The honest price

Free — $0: a .framer.website subdomain, 500 AI credits to start, 1 GB of bandwidth, basic limits. Basic — from ~$10/mo per site: custom domain, Framer badge removed, up to 30 pages. Pro — from ~$30/mo: up to 150 pages, staging, branching. Enterprise — on request. Prices are usually per site and assume annual billing; month-to-month is more expensive. Exact figures and AI credit limits are on the official pricing page and change over time. Tag: paid / free.

Gotchas

  • Don't mix things up: "AI Style" in Framer is about the tone of translations into other languages (localization), not about the visual theme. The font and palette mix lives in the theme panel when you generate a page.
  • shuffle gives you a starting point, but you still finish the look and the theme by hand — cycling through combinations doesn't replace taste.
  • It's strongest on sites up to ~150 pages (the plan limit); it handles content-heavy projects worse than Webflow.
  • AI generation credits are finite (500 on free) — heavy iteration burns through them fast.
  • Rich animations cost you load speed — keep an eye on performance and Core Web Vitals.
  • Deep logic and integrations are limited — this is a site builder, not an app platform.

🤖 Prompt accelerator

"I'm building a <landing page / portfolio / promo> in Framer for <product/brand>, audience , tone <minimal / bold / premium>. Generate the section structure (hero → problem → solution → social proof → pricing → CTA) and propose 3 theme options: for each, a display + text font pairing and a color palette matching the tone. Give me the HEX palette and the font names so I can build the theme in Framer's panel and cycle through variations with shuffle. Plus the SEO minimum: title, description, H1."
