Anthropic has announced a major expansion in the availability of its Claude Cowork tool. Starting July 7, 2026, users can reach Claude Cowork not only through the desktop apps but also through a web interface and on mobile devices running iOS and Android. That puts the AI assistant's capabilities within reach anytime, anywhere — an important step toward folding AI into everyday work.
The core principle behind Claude Cowork remains mandatory human involvement. The system is built so that no action completes without explicit approval from the user. When the AI runs into a decision only a human can make, the user gets a push notification on their mobile device. The same kind of notification arrives when a task finishes. This keeps the AI in the role of an assistant rather than a fully autonomous executor, leaving control with the user.
Why it matters
Extending Claude Cowork to mobile and web is an important move for Anthropic in the competitive market of AI tools for business. Availability across devices lets users manage their tasks and workflows more flexibly wherever they are. Background execution in the cloud — running even while the user is idle or has closed the device — improves efficiency and saves time. Anthropic is also running promotions to draw users in. Through August 5 there is a limit-doubling promo for Claude Cowork, and through July 19 a promo for the Fable 5 model that raises limits for Claude Code. A beta of the feature will land in the coming weeks, with priority access for Claude Max subscribers. That nudges users toward heavier use of the platform and toward testing the new capabilities.
