What it is and why

The fastest way to start taking money with no legal registration at all: subscriptions, donations, access to a private channel, digital goods — right inside Telegram through services like Tribute, Paywall, Boosty, YooMoney. You launch in minutes, with no business bank account. Take this for testing an idea, first sales, donations and subscriptions, when registering as a sole trader or self-employed is still premature.

How to do it (step by step)

  1. Pick a service for your case: Tribute/Paywall (subscriptions and access inside Telegram), Boosty (content subscriptions), YooMoney (general-purpose payments/a button).
  2. Sign up through Telegram and connect your channel/bot.
  3. Create the product: a paid channel subscription, one-off access, a donation, a digital product. Set the price in rubles.
  4. Link a payout method — a card or wallet to receive the money.
  5. Get the payment link/button and place it in your channel/bot/post.
  6. The customer pays without leaving Telegram → the service grants access automatically (adds them to the channel/sends the product).
  7. Withdraw what you earn (remember the minimum payout and the timelines).
  1. Registration: you do NOT need a legal entity — just an account in the service via Telegram and a card for payouts. That is the main advantage of operating as a private individual.
  2. What you need: a Telegram channel/bot plus a bank card. A business bank account and an online cash register are not required (fiscalization sits with the aggregator service, if it provides it).
  3. Automatic receipts / documents: you do not generate receipts yourself — that is the service's job. Check with the specific service how your income is documented and which papers it gives you (this affects your taxes).
  4. Taxes (on you!): an individual's income is subject to personal income tax (NDFL) — you must declare the income and pay the tax yourself (at the end of the year, via the 3-NDFL form). This is the key point: the service will transfer the money, but reporting to the tax authority is your responsibility.
  5. Common pitfalls: (a) a high service fee (Tribute is around ~10% as a reference point — check it); (b) payout limits and timelines; (c) forgetting about NDFL → back taxes and penalties; (d) as your turnover grows the tax authority may treat the activity as entrepreneurial → time to register as self-employed or a sole trader.

A ready-made recipe/combo

Launching a paid Telegram channel in one evening: you create a private channel → set up a paid subscription in Tribute (monthly, say) → place the button in your public shop-window channel → a subscriber pays in a couple of taps → Tribute adds them to the private channel itself and charges them every month → on cancellation it removes access. The money lands on your card and all you do is produce content. You declare the tax on that income yourself.

What it costs (honestly)

The logic: no subscription fee, but a high cut of each payment (Tribute is around ~10% as a reference; others differ). That is the price of speed and skipping registration. As you grow it becomes cheaper to move to self-employed or sole-trader status (lower acquiring fees). Exact fees, limits and payout timelines are with each service and they change.

When it fits / when it doesn't

  • Fits: testing an idea, first sales, donations, Telegram channel subscriptions; you need to start "right now" with no paperwork; small turnover.
  • Doesn't fit: regular, meaningful income (the fees make it uneconomical and the taxes make it risky — register for the NPD regime or as a sole trader); you need acquiring on a website, work with legal entities, or low fees.

Risks and responsibility

Taxes are on you: an individual's income means NDFL, declared by you (otherwise back taxes and fines). With systematic income the activity may be deemed unregistered entrepreneurship (which is a violation) — register as self-employed or a sole trader in good time. 152-FZ: if you collect subscriber data, you need consent. Telegram risk: enter payment details ONLY in verified official services, watch out for copycat bots (check the @username), and never trust "payment forms" from strangers. 🤖 Prompt helper

You are a consultant on accepting payments as a private individual in Telegram. I sell "{what: a subscription/donations/a digital product}" and expect a turnover of about {amount}/month. Help me: (1) choose a service (Tribute/Paywall/Boosty/YooMoney) for my case and compare them on fees/payouts; (2) set up the product and the payment button step by step; (3) explain in plain words how I pay NDFL on this income and when to file; (4) at what turnover it is time to register as self-employed or a sole trader, and why. Give me a practical plan. (Remind me: this is not tax advice, and the details should be checked with a tax specialist.)
