What it does
Adds a skill for working with long documents to ChatGPT: upload a PDF/DOCX/PPTX/EPUB (or pass a link) and ask questions about its contents. It answers with quotes and page references so you can verify them. It also sidesteps the context limit — the document is searched chunk by chunk instead of being pasted in whole.
How to set it up
- Open chatgpt.com/g/g-V2KIUZSj0-askyourpdf-research-assistant → Start Chat.
- Upload the document straight into the chat; for large files or a document archive, connect an AskYourPDF account.
When to use it
- ✅ A long report, contract, manual or research paper where you need the answer fast plus a page to cite.
- ✅ Comparing or summarising a document without reading it end to end.
- ❌ Double-check legally consequential contract conclusions with a lawyer — this is an assistant, not counsel.
Example
Upload a contract PDF: "Find the termination terms and penalties, quote the clauses with page numbers" — it returns the wording with the pages it came from.
