What it does
Cures the main weakness of LLMs — arithmetic and facts. The Wolfram GPT hands calculations off to the Wolfram|Alpha and Wolfram Language engine: exact math, physics/chemistry, statistics, real-world data (geography, astronomy, nutrition, finance) and charts. The model formulates the query, Wolfram computes it, ChatGPT writes up the answer — the numbers are no longer invented.
The official GPT from Wolfram Research (the makers of Mathematica) — a textbook example of a skill layered on top of the model.
How to set it up
- Open the official page gpt.wolfram.com or find Wolfram in the GPT Store → Start Chat.
- You need a ChatGPT Plus plan (custom GPTs with actions work on paid plans).
When to use it
- ✅ Any calculation where a mistake is unacceptable: a financial model, units of measurement, equations, percentages, conversions.
- ✅ You need up-to-date reference data and visualization (function plots, country statistics).
- ❌ Not for creative writing — this is about precision and computation.
