AI infographics & carousels

An 8-slide carousel means an hour on copy and another hour on design. The Claude + Canva combo squeezes that down to 15 minutes, and you really can make the slides seamless 🎠

What it is

Generating meaningful visuals with legible text: infographics, diagrams, charts and multi-slide carousels for Instagram/LinkedIn/Telegram. The key shift in recent model versions is that letters are finally rendered cleanly and the layout holds together. But the most practical workflow of 2026 isn't "one image from a neural net" - it's a combo: Claude writes the copy and slide structure, Canva assembles the design (including "seamless" carousels where the background flows from slide to slide).

Where it came from

For a long time AI images couldn't do text (gibberish instead of words). The turning point came with Ideogram and Recraft (typography as a feature), then strong typography in Nano Banana Pro and GPT Image. In parallel it turned out that for a carousel, "drawing" matters less than phrasing - a strong hook on slide 1, one idea per slide, a CTA at the end. And that's exactly what a language model is good at.

Why it took off

  • The carousel is the format algorithms love most. People swipe, watch through, save - and social platforms push such posts into more reach.
  • Division of labor. Claude takes "what to say" (the script, the talking points, the headlines), Canva takes "how to show it" (template, fonts, brand colors). Each does what it's best at.
  • The barrier collapsed. An expert no longer needs a copywriter or a designer to put together a series of posts in one evening.

How to build it in 15 minutes: Claude → Canva

  1. Script in Claude. Ask it to break the topic into 6-10 slides: hook, one idea per slide, closing CTA. Set up a Claude Project and drop your tone of voice, past posts that worked and your brand guide into it - a project has 200K of context (~500 pages) and custom instructions, so Claude writes in your voice instead of a generic one.
  2. Design in Canva. Take a ready carousel template or your own brand kit, lay Claude's talking points across the slides, and lock the same fonts and colors for the whole series.
  3. Export. Export the slides (PNG/JPG) and upload them to Instagram as a carousel. What you get: a publish-ready series of slides in one sitting.

Seamless carousels: the trick

"Seamless" means the background or illustration flows from slide to slide, so your thumb keeps swiping on its own. In Canva the technique is simple: make one wide canvas 1080×N wide (N = number of slides), turn on guides (File → View settings → Show rulers and guides) at the 1080 / 2160 / 3240… boundaries, and draw a continuous background with elements crossing those boundaries. Then slice the single image into equal slides (with the grid-slicing tool) and upload them in order. Identical fonts and colors are mandatory, otherwise the seam "tears".

What to watch out for

  • Text still drifts. Claude writes clean copy, but if you're generating the images themselves with a neural net - proofread every number and word.
  • Don't pass generated "statistics" off as facts. Take data from a source; AI is only for wording and presentation.
  • Price, honestly. Both Claude and Canva have free tiers (Canva Free - PNG/JPG/PDF export and 1.6M+ templates; Canva Pro - from $15/mo). Unlimited projects and premium templates are on the paid plans.
  • Branding decides it. Without your own template and colors, a carousel looks like everyone else's - invest once in a brand kit.

"You're a social media editor. Write the script for a viral Instagram carousel on for an audience of . Format: 8 slides. Slide 1 - a strong hook (a pain point or a surprising fact, no clickbait). Slides 2-7 - one complete idea each, short, concrete, with examples. Slide 8 - a CTA (). For each slide give me: a headline (up to 6 words), 1-2 lines of text, and a visual idea. Tone - . Don't invent numbers; if a fact is needed, mark it [proof needed]."
