What happened
On July 8, TechCrunch, citing an exclusive from Sifted, reported that Swedish vibe-coding startup Lovable is in talks over a new round of roughly $300M at a valuation of $13.2B.
The key numbers:
- A 2x jump in six months. $13.2B is exactly double the $6.6B the company was valued at in December 2025.
- Lead investor. Sources say the round is set to be led by Menlo Ventures, a fund that announced $3B in fresh capital a month earlier.
- Revenue. In June 2026 Lovable reported hitting $500M in annualized run rate and 1 million new projects a week; more than 50 million projects have been built on the platform in total.
- Customers. Enterprise clients include Workday, Asana and Nvidia.
- Team. The company is less than three years old; the CEO and co-founder is Anton Osika.
One important caveat: these are talks, not a done deal. Nothing is closed, and both terms and valuation can still move. In June, Forbes reported talks at around $12B — the figure has climbed since.
Why it matters
Doubling a valuation in six months on the back of $500M in annualized revenue is rare momentum even by AI-market standards. It backs up a thesis investors keep repeating: vibe coding — building software from a text description — is currently the most monetizable use case in generative AI.
Menlo Ventures stepping in as lead signals serious institutional interest, not just retail hype. And Lovable is not alone here: capital is flooding the AI development tooling market. For context, Replit was valued at $9B in March 2026, and Factory raised $150M at a $1.5B valuation in April.
What it means for vibe coding
- For beginners. Platforms like Lovable let you assemble a working app from a natural-language description. Money pouring into the space usually means more generous free tiers, more integrations and more features — the barrier to entry keeps dropping.
- For pros. The race between Lovable, Replit, Cursor, Bolt, v0 and Factory pushes code-generation quality up and steers these products toward enterprise: team workflows, security and integration with existing stacks.
- A sober look at the risk. Valuations are running ahead of revenue. Watch whether the round actually closes and on what terms — "in talks over a valuation" and "closed round" are two different things.
- The takeaway for the qvib audience. Vibe coding is turning from hype into an industry with billion-dollar budgets. Being fluent with these tools is only getting more valuable — for newcomers and for people already shipping products.
