What it is and why
Sendsay is an omnichannel marketing platform: email, SMS, web push, messengers, plus a CDP (Customer Data Platform — one customer profile assembled from every source). It is a Russian service and the data stays in Russia. Reach for it when you have outgrown plain newsletters and need mature marketing: behaviour-triggered journeys, a single profile, omnichannel touchpoints.
How to set it up (step by step)
- Sign up at sendsay.ru (there is an entry-level plan). Russian service, data inside the Russian perimeter.
- Feed data into the CDP. Connect your sources: the website (tracker/events), CRM, forms, a list import (with consent!). The customer profile is assembled from all channels.
- Channels. Set up your email domain (DKIM/SPF for deliverability), the SMS sender name, web push, and connect messengers.
- Behavioural segments. Build dynamic segments on CDP data: "added to cart, did not buy", "opened three emails, never purchased".
- Journeys (automation). The builder: a trigger (event) → branching → actions across different channels with delays. An abandoned cart, for example: email → push a day later → SMS two days later.
- Content. Build emails in the editor and personalise them from profile fields (name, history).
- A/B testing and optimisation of subject lines, send times and channels.
- End-to-end analytics — which channel or journey drives conversions, plus RFM analysis.
Ready-made recipe
An abandoned cart, omnichannel: the customer adds an item and leaves → the event lands in the CDP → the journey starts: an email reminder after 1 hour → no open within a day → web push → still no return → on day two an SMS with a discount → they buy, the journey stops and the profile is tagged. The single profile keeps you from double-touching the same person and records the whole history. This is no longer "a newsletter", it is managed omnichannel communication.
What it costs (honestly)
How it works: plans are priced by list size / sending volume, and the omnichannel and CDP features sit on the higher tiers. It is more complex and more expensive than a simple newsletter tool — and more powerful. Exact figures are on sendsay.ru and they change.
When it fits / when it doesn't
- Fits: mature marketing; you need omnichannel plus a single profile (CDP); behaviour-triggered journeys; you have the time to set it up; you need Russian-hosted data.
- Doesn't fit: you are just starting and want simplicity (Unisender/DashaMail); you only need messengers (Senler/BotHelp); you have no data or traffic to build profiles from.
Risks and responsibility
152-FZ: collecting behavioural data and contacts in a CDP requires consent to process personal data and to receive marketing messages; every channel needs a way to unsubscribe. Web push needs consent in the browser. The more customer data you collect, the more responsibility you carry for protecting it and for a correct processing policy. Advertising someone else's product means ORD reporting. See the section disclaimer.
