What it is and why
Unisender is a Russian email and SMS campaign service: newsletters, automated sequences, segments, a simple editor. Russian interface, billing in rubles, a low barrier to entry. Take it when you need to start doing email marketing and transactional mail (confirmations, receipts) without the complexity of enterprise platforms.
How to do it (step by step)
- Sign up at unisender.com — there's a free plan to start on, and billing is in rubles.
- Create a list and upload your contacts — IMPORTANT: only contacts who have given consent to receive mailings (152-FZ). Cold purchased lists must not be uploaded.
- Signup form. Build a form (to embed on your site or landing page) with a consent checkbox → new subscribers land in the list legally, with double opt-in (confirmation by email).
- Build the email in the block editor: subject line, copy, images, buttons. An "unsubscribe" link is mandatory — both the law and the mailbox providers require it.
- Segmentation. Split the list by attributes (activity, interests, source) so your campaigns stay relevant.
- Automated sequences. Set up a series of emails on a trigger (subscribed → welcome series; purchased → onboarding). There's a workflow builder.
- Sending and scheduling. One-off or scheduled sends. A/B test the subject line.
- Analytics. Open rate, CTR, unsubscribes, deliverability — prune dead addresses from the list so you don't slide into spam.
Ready-made recipe
A lead magnet welcome funnel: on the landing page (Tilda) a "download the guide" form with a consent checkbox → Unisender sends the email with the guide (double opt-in has confirmed the subscription) → an automated sequence: day 1 something useful, day 3 a case study, day 5 an offer with a payment button → anyone who clicks the offer is segmented as "hot" → they get a separate email or get handed to the CRM. All legal, all in rubles, all on autopilot.
What it costs (honestly)
The logic: a free plan (capped subscribers and emails per month). Paid plans go by list size or by email volume; SMS is billed separately per message. Exact figures and limits are on unisender.com and they change.
When it fits / when it doesn't
- Fits: getting started with email marketing; you need SMS plus automated sequences; you want a Russian service and ruble billing; transactional email; a small or mid-sized list.
- Doesn't fit: you need deep omnichannel with a CDP and complex scenarios (Sendsay); messengers only (Senler/BotHelp); you have no consented list at all (you can't start).
Risks and responsibility
152-FZ: you may send only to a list that has consented to receiving marketing messages; the form must collect that consent, and every email needs an "unsubscribe" link. Purchased or scraped lists are a violation (fines plus a ban from the mailbox providers). Marketing emails have to respect advertising rules; if you're promoting someone else's product, that means ORD reporting. See the section disclaimer.
🤖 Prompt helper
You are an email marketer. The product is "{what}", the audience is {who}. Help me: (1) design a welcome sequence of 4-5 emails (subject line + the gist of each + timing); (2) write the lead magnet email with correct consent and unsubscribe wording; (3) work out how to segment the list; (4) build a deliverability checklist (what pushes you into spam). Copy in Russian, friendly tone.
