What it is and why
Carrd is a builder for good-looking one-page sites at almost no cost: a personal card, a "coming soon" page, a simple landing page, a link profile. Clean, minimal results in minutes. It's famous for the token yearly price of its Pro plan. Reach for it when you need one tidy screen cheaply and fast, and you don't mind an English-language interface and paying in foreign currency.
How to do it (step by step)
- Sign up at carrd.co — free for basic sites on a subdomain. Pro costs a token amount per year (in foreign currency).
- Pick a template (there are plenty, all responsive) for your type: landing page, profile, form, "coming soon".
- Edit the elements (text, images, buttons) — quick and simple, everything on one screen.
- A form. On Pro you can add an email capture form; connect a destination (Mailchimp/webhook/Zapier) — mind personal data consent if you're working with a Russian audience.
- Sections. Assemble the screen out of sections (hero, features, CTA) — but it's still a one-pager, not a multi-page site.
- Custom domain (Pro) — point a domain you own at it.
- Embed widgets (video, third-party forms) through a code block.
- Publish — instantly.
Ready-made recipe
"Coming soon" plus early subscriber capture: in one evening you put together a "launching soon" one-pager describing the product → the email form fires a webhook into Zapier → Zapier drops subscribers into Google Sheets or your mailing tool → you post the link on social media → you build a waiting list before the product even ships. Cheap, fast and good-looking — perfect for testing demand.
What it costs (honestly)
The logic: free for basic sites (a Carrd subdomain, a limited number of sites). Pro costs a token yearly fee (one of the cheapest options on the market) and unlocks forms, a custom domain and more sites. Payment is in foreign currency. Exact figures are on carrd.co and they change.
When it fits / when it doesn't
- Fits: you need one good-looking screen cheap and fast (a card, a coming-soon page, a simple landing); you're fine with an English interface and foreign-currency billing; you like minimalism.
- Doesn't fit: you need a Russian interface and ruble billing (Tilda/Craftum); you need a multi-page site or complex logic; you need Russian payment methods or a CRM out of the box.
Risks and responsibility
If you're collecting contacts from a Russian audience, 152-FZ applies: consent to process personal data and a privacy policy (Carrd won't do this for you — add it yourself). It's a foreign service billed in foreign currency. Advertising someone else's product requires ORD labeling. For serious personal-data collection or payments in Russia, Tilda or Craftum are the better call. See the section disclaimer.
🤖 Prompt helper
You are a one-page site designer (Carrd). I need a {coming-soon / personal card / simple landing page} about "{what}". Give me: (1) the section structure for a single screen; (2) the copy (headline, subheadline, CTA) — short and punchy; (3) how to wire up email capture via webhook/Zapier; (4) what to add for personal data consent if the audience is in Russia. Step by step.
